MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
THE CHARACTER OF A PIECE BEGINS IN THE DETAILS
Materials influence more than appearance. They shape the weight, texture, finish, comfort, and character of every ring.
At EVALOR, craftsmanship is revealed through proportion, balance, surface detail, and the way every element comes together as one complete design.
Every piece carrying the EVALOR name should feel commanding without unnecessary excess, refined without losing strength, and accurately represented from the first impression to the moment it reaches your hand.
CRAFTSMANSHIP, REVEALED
True craftsmanship can be seen and felt in the details.
It is found in the relationship between the width and profile of a ring, the definition of its edges, the comfort of its interior, and the way polished, brushed, textured, and patterned surfaces interact with light.
PROPORTION
Width, thickness, profile, and visual weight determine how naturally a ring sits on the hand and how strongly it presents when worn.
FINISH
Every surface creates a different character. Polished finishes appear brighter and more formal, while brushed and matte finishes create a quieter, more controlled presence.
COMFORT
Interior shape, edge profile, and overall balance influence how a ring feels throughout everyday wear.
CONSTRUCTION
Channels, inlays, coatings, patterns, and contrasting materials should feel integrated into the design rather than added without purpose.
CONSISTENCY
Color, alignment, texture, proportion, and finish should work together to create a piece that feels complete.
OUR MATERIALS
Different materials offer different advantages. No single material is right for every man.
The ideal choice depends on how you want the ring to feel, how you intend to wear it, and which design best reflects your personal style.
TUNGSTEN CARBIDE
SUBSTANTIAL. PRECISE. COMMANDING.
Tungsten carbide is known for its substantial weight, defined profile, and strong resistance to ordinary surface scratching.
Its density gives it a powerful presence on the hand, while its hardness allows polished and brushed surfaces to maintain a crisp appearance through regular wear.
Because tungsten carbide is extremely rigid, it behaves differently from softer metals. It generally cannot be conventionally resized and should be protected from severe impacts, hard drops, and crushing forces.
Tungsten carbide is best suited for men who prefer a heavier ring with a structured, confident feel.
STAINLESS STEEL
VERSATILE. REFINED. DISTINCTIVE.
Stainless steel supports a wide range of polished, brushed, etched, patterned, and colored finishes.
It generally offers a lighter feel than tungsten carbide while allowing for detailed surfaces, bold profiles, and contrasting design elements.
The specific steel grade, coating, width, and construction may differ between products. Verified specifications are identified on the individual product page.
Stainless steel is best suited for men seeking versatility, detailed design, and a comfortable everyday presence.
DAMASCUS STEEL AND DAMASCUS-STYLE PATTERNS
CHARACTER THAT REFUSES UNIFORMITY.
Damascus steel is recognized for its flowing, layered appearance. Its lines, waves, and contrast give the surface a character that feels organic and individual.
Some designs may use genuine patterned Damascus steel, while others may feature an etched or decorative Damascus-style pattern. The exact construction will be identified on the applicable product page.
Pattern placement and tonal variation may differ from one ring to another. These differences are often part of the intended design and do not automatically indicate a defect.
These pieces are best suited for men drawn to darker character, natural movement, and surfaces that do not appear perfectly uniform.
SPECIALTY PATTERNS AND INLAYS
CONTRAST THAT DEFINES THE PIECE.
Selected EVALOR rings may feature specialty patterns, metallic accents, carbon fiber, foil, stone, shell, wood, meteorite-inspired details, or other decorative inlays.
These elements introduce contrast in color, depth, texture, and reflectivity. Their appearance may vary depending on the individual material and its placement within the ring.
Specialty inlays should be protected from severe impact, extreme heat, harsh chemicals, and prolonged exposure to conditions that may affect their appearance or bond.
The individual product page will identify whether a design contains a verified material or uses a pattern inspired by that material.
A STUDY IN SURFACE
A ring’s finish changes how it catches light, how formal it feels, and how signs of wear may appear over time.
POLISHED
A polished surface creates a brighter, more reflective appearance.
Its clean shine can feel formal and refined, although fine scratches may become more visible because the surface reflects more light.
BRUSHED
A brushed finish uses directional texture to create a restrained, satin-like appearance.
It softens reflections and offers a more controlled visual character than a fully polished surface.
MATTE
A matte finish creates a smooth, low-reflection surface with a modern and understated appearance.
Regular friction may gradually create smoother or more polished contact points.
ETCHED AND PATTERNED
Etched or patterned finishes introduce deliberate texture and visual movement across the surface.
Pattern depth, placement, contrast, and alignment may differ depending on the design.
FACETED AND TEXTURED
Faceted, hammered, or otherwise textured surfaces reflect light from multiple angles.
Small differences across the surface may be part of the intended character of the piece.
PVD AND PLATED FINISHES
COLOR, APPLIED WITH PURPOSE
Some EVALOR rings feature gold-tone, black, rose-gold, or other colored surfaces created through PVD coating or plating.
These finishes allow contrasting tones and details to become part of the overall design. An applied finish is different from solid precious metal and may gradually change through regular wear.
Its appearance can be influenced by:
- Friction and abrasive surfaces
- Sweat and individual body chemistry
- Chlorine and saltwater
- Lotions, fragrances, and cosmetics
- Harsh cleaning products
- Repeated contact with tools, weights, and hard surfaces
Proper care can help preserve the finish, but no applied coating should be considered permanently resistant to scratches, fading, or wear.
The applicable product page will identify the confirmed finish used on each ring.
INDIVIDUAL BY NATURE
Patterned metals, textured surfaces, metallic accents, specialty inlays, and decorative materials may vary from one piece to another.
Product photography represents the overall design, color direction, finish, and construction of the ring. Individual pieces may differ slightly in:
- Pattern placement
- Texture
- Grain
- Veining
- Reflectivity
- Tonal contrast
- Inlay arrangement
- Decorative detail
These differences can give each ring its own visual character while remaining faithful to the intended design.
A natural or intentional variation is not automatically a defect. A concern may exist when a product materially differs from its published description, confirmed specifications, or intended construction.
FIND THE MATERIAL THAT FITS THE WAY YOU WEAR
Choose tungsten carbide when you prefer greater weight, a substantial profile, and strong resistance to ordinary surface scratching.
Choose stainless steel when you prefer a lighter everyday feel, greater design versatility, and a wider range of patterns and colored finishes.
Choose Damascus steel or a Damascus-style design when you prefer flowing visual movement, darker character, and an intentionally varied surface.
Choose a specialty inlay or patterned ring when you prefer stronger contrast, additional depth, and a design with a distinctive centerpiece.
No material is perfect for every person or every situation. The right choice is the one that fits your lifestyle, your preferences, and the meaning you intend to give the piece.
