EVALOR JEWELRY CARE
MADE TO BE WORN. WORTH CARING FOR.
Every EVALOR piece is created to become part of your life.
Over time, all jewelry can develop marks, surface changes, and signs of wear. These changes are influenced by the material, finish, environment, body chemistry, and the way the piece is worn.
Proper care can help preserve the color, finish, structure, and character of your ring for longer.
Because materials and finishes vary across the EVALOR collection, always review the individual product description alongside this guide.
EVERYDAY CARE
WEAR IT WITH INTENTION
Your ring may be built for everyday style, but not every activity is appropriate for jewelry.
Remove your ring before:
- Heavy lifting or weight training
- Manual labor
- Contact sports
- Working with tools or machinery
- Automotive or mechanical work
- Gardening or construction
- Swimming or entering a hot tub
- Showering or bathing
- Applying strong cleaning products
- Activities involving crushing, snagging, or severe impact
Avoid allowing the ring to strike concrete, tile, stone, metal equipment, weights, or other hard surfaces.
Never intentionally test the ring by dropping, bending, crushing, striking, or applying excessive force to it.
WATER, CHLORINE, AND SALTWATER
REMOVE BEFORE ENTERING THE WATER
Plain water may not immediately damage every ring, but prolonged moisture can affect certain finishes, coatings, adhesives, inlays, and decorative materials.
Chlorine, saltwater, pool chemicals, and hot-tub chemicals may accelerate:
- Discoloration
- Finish wear
- Fading
- Tarnishing
- Drying or deterioration of natural materials
- Weakening around inlays or bonded components
Remove your ring before swimming, entering a hot tub, or spending extended time in saltwater.
If the ring is exposed to water, rinse it gently when appropriate and dry it completely with a soft cloth before storing it.
LOTIONS, FRAGRANCES, AND COSMETICS
Products used on the skin can collect around patterns, channels, edges, and inlays.
Whenever practical, apply the following before putting on your ring:
- Lotion
- Sunscreen
- Cologne
- Fragrance
- Hair products
- Oils
- Hand sanitizer
- Cosmetics
Allow the product to dry before wearing the ring.
Frequent exposure may gradually affect the appearance of certain coatings and finishes.
ROUTINE CLEANING
KEEP IT SIMPLE
For most EVALOR rings, routine cleaning should be gentle.
Recommended method
- Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water.
- Add a small amount of mild soap.
- Lightly wipe the ring using a clean, soft cloth.
- Use a very soft brush only when necessary and only on surfaces that will not be damaged by brushing.
- Rinse away all soap residue.
- Dry the ring completely with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Do not soak the ring for an extended period unless its individual care instructions confirm that soaking is appropriate.
Never store the ring while it is damp.
CLEANING PRODUCTS TO AVOID
Do not use:
- Bleach
- Chlorine-based cleaners
- Acids
- Abrasive powders
- Toothpaste
- Baking-soda pastes
- Scouring pads
- Rough brushes
- Metal-polishing compounds
- Household disinfectants
- Industrial cleaners
- Unapproved chemical jewelry dips
These products may scratch the surface, alter the finish, damage a coating, discolor the metal, or affect an inlay.
ULTRASONIC AND STEAM CLEANING
Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are not appropriate for every ring.
Avoid using them on pieces containing:
- Decorative inlays
- Foil
- Wood
- Shell
- Stone
- Carbon fiber
- Coated surfaces
- Plated details
- Bonded components
- Unknown or mixed materials
Heat and vibration can affect certain materials, adhesives, and finishes.
Use ultrasonic or steam cleaning only when the individual product instructions clearly state that the ring is compatible with that cleaning method.
CARE BY FINISH
POLISHED SURFACES
Polished surfaces are highly reflective and may show fine scratches more visibly than brushed or matte finishes.
Clean them using a soft microfiber or lint-free cloth.
Avoid aggressive polishing, abrasive compounds, and rough materials that can create additional scratches or change the intended appearance.
BRUSHED SURFACES
Brushed finishes use directional texture to create a restrained satin appearance.
Do not aggressively polish a brushed ring. Polishing can smooth the texture and create uneven reflective areas.
Wipe gently in the direction of the visible grain whenever possible.
MATTE SURFACES
Matte surfaces have a low-reflection appearance.
Regular friction may gradually create smoother or shinier contact points. This can be a normal result of wear.
Do not use polishing compounds unless you intentionally want to alter the original matte finish.
ETCHED, FACETED, AND TEXTURED SURFACES
Patterned and textured rings may collect residue inside grooves or recessed areas.
Use mild soap and a soft cloth. A very soft brush may be used carefully when necessary.
Do not attempt to deepen, reshape, or restore the pattern using abrasive tools or household products.
PVD AND PLATED FINISHES
PROTECT THE COLOR
Some EVALOR rings use PVD coating, plating, or another applied finish to create gold-tone, black, rose-gold, or contrasting details.
Applied finishes are different from solid precious metal. Their appearance may gradually change through friction and regular wear.
To help preserve the finish:
- Avoid abrasive surfaces
- Keep the ring away from harsh chemicals
- Remove it before swimming or entering a hot tub
- Minimize repeated contact with hand sanitizer
- Avoid metal-polishing compounds
- Wipe away sweat, oils, and residue after wear
- Store it separately from harder jewelry and objects
Never describe an applied finish as permanently scratch-proof or fade-proof. Normal wear can eventually affect even a well-applied coating.
TUNGSTEN CARBIDE CARE
HARD, BUT NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE
Tungsten carbide is known for its substantial weight and resistance to ordinary surface scratching.
However, its hardness also makes it more rigid than softer metals.
Protect tungsten rings from:
- Severe drops
- Crushing forces
- Hard impacts
- Machinery
- Heavy tools
- Deliberate pressure or bending tests
A tungsten ring may resist scratching well but can fracture under sufficient impact or pressure.
Tungsten carbide rings generally cannot be resized through traditional jewelry methods.
STAINLESS-STEEL CARE
Stainless steel is versatile and suitable for many polished, brushed, patterned, and coated designs.
Clean it using mild soap, lukewarm water, and a soft cloth.
Stainless steel may still develop:
- Fine scratches
- Surface dulling
- Residue buildup
- Changes to an applied coating
- Discoloration caused by chemicals or contamination
Do not assume that every stainless-steel ring has the same alloy, coating, or construction. Follow the specifications and care information provided on the individual product page.
DAMASCUS AND PATTERNED-STEEL CARE
Damascus and Damascus-style rings are recognized by their flowing or layered appearance.
Depending on the material and production method, the pattern may respond differently to moisture, chemicals, and wear.
To protect the surface:
- Keep the ring clean and dry
- Avoid prolonged soaking
- Avoid harsh chemicals
- Wipe away moisture after exposure
- Store it in a dry location
- Do not use abrasive polishing products unless specifically recommended
Pattern contrast and appearance may naturally change over time.
A genuine Damascus construction and a decorative Damascus-style surface are not necessarily cared for in exactly the same way. Review the individual product description.
SPECIALTY INLAYS
PROTECT THE CENTERPIECE
Rings containing decorative inlays require additional care.
Depending on the product, an inlay may include:
- Metallic foil
- Carbon fiber
- Stone
- Shell
- Wood
- Decorative patterning
- Meteorite or meteorite-inspired details
- Other specialty materials
Protect inlays from:
- Severe impact
- Extended soaking
- Extreme heat
- Harsh chemicals
- Abrasive cleaning
- Sudden temperature changes
- Picking or scraping around the edges
Do not use sharp tools to remove residue from an inlay or channel.
If an inlay appears loose, lifted, cracked, or separated, stop wearing the ring and contact EVALOR before additional damage occurs.
STORAGE
GIVE EACH PIECE ITS OWN SPACE
When the ring is not being worn, store it:
- Inside its EVALOR box
- In a soft pouch
- In a lined jewelry compartment
- Away from excessive heat and moisture
- Separately from other jewelry
Do not allow rings to rub against:
- Watches
- Chains
- Keys
- Tools
- Coins
- Other rings
- Hard or abrasive objects
Even scratch-resistant materials may damage softer jewelry stored beside them.
Make sure the ring is clean and completely dry before long-term storage.
RING SAFETY
KNOW WHEN TO REMOVE IT
A ring can create a serious hand hazard when worn around moving equipment, machinery, electrical work, heavy tools, or objects that can catch or crush the hand.
Remove the ring before any activity where it could:
- Snag
- Catch
- Conduct electricity
- Become trapped
- Be crushed
- Restrict circulation after swelling
Remove the ring promptly if your finger becomes:
- Painful
- Numb
- Swollen
- Discolored
- Difficult to move
Seek appropriate assistance when a ring cannot be safely removed.
CHANGES IN FIT
Finger size can change because of:
- Temperature
- Swelling
- Exercise
- Weight changes
- Medical conditions
- Time of day
- Hydration
- Dietary factors
A ring that suddenly feels too tight should be removed before swelling becomes worse.
Changes in finger size are not necessarily a defect in the ring.
Eligible non-customized rings may qualify for one size exchange when requested within 30 days of delivery under the EVALOR Returns & Exchanges Policy.
SIGNS OF NORMAL WEAR
Jewelry is a wearable object. Signs of use can develop even when the ring is properly cared for.
Normal changes may include:
- Fine scratches
- Scuffs
- Surface dulling
- Smoothing of brushed or matte textures
- Polished contact points
- Gradual coating wear
- Minor pattern changes
- Natural variation in color or surface appearance
These signs do not automatically mean that the ring is defective.
During the first year, eligible ordinary wear, unusual deterioration, and manufacturing issues may qualify for protection under the EVALOR Limited Lifetime Warranty.
